The short version: we use your photo to make your sticker and don't keep it. To make the motion, your photo goes to our AI provider, fal.ai, in the US. The app has no account and no ads. It's identified by a random ID that isn't linked to your name, Apple ID or phone number. The website has no cookies and no analytics.
Who we are
Zagly is made by Jay Brand, an independent developer in Sofia, Bulgaria. Jay is the data controller for the data described here. Contact: hello@zagly.com.
The Zagly app
Zagly is in a private beta, distributed through Apple's TestFlight.
Photos and prompts you choose to animate
- When you tap Make it move, the app sends the cut-out photo and the action (a preset or the text you typed) to our server.
- Our server passes them straight to fal.ai (Features & Labels, Inc., USA), which runs the AI video model and hosts the resulting clip so your phone can download it. This means your photo leaves the EU. fal handles it under its own privacy policy.
- Our server never saves your photo or the video. It keeps a record of the job: the action prompt, the model used, the time, whether it worked, and the link to the finished clip on fal's servers.
- The app does the rest on your phone: removing the background, adding the outline, caption and watermark, and saving the sticker.
Things that never leave your phone
- Your sticker library.
- Photos you pick but don't animate.
- Free template stickers and video stickers, which are made entirely on the device.
Usage data
The app creates a random install ID the first time it runs and sends it with each request. With it, we record:
- which days you open the app, and how often
- the stickers you make (the job record above)
- your answer to "Would you send this to a friend?"
- whether you used Copy for chat or Add to WhatsApp
We use this to see which AI models make stickers people actually send, to enforce daily limits and to fix bugs. The ID is stored only in the app. Deleting the app breaks the link: a reinstall gets a new ID.
Stickers you send
Once you paste a sticker into WhatsApp or add it as a sticker pack, WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to it.
The website and waitlist
- No cookies, analytics, ad trackers or third-party scripts. The fonts come from your own device.
- If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the time and which form you used. We use it only to send you a beta invite and, at most, a launch announcement.
- The legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we'll delete your address.
Server logs
Our server's system log records the IP address, time and path of requests to the Zagly API, including the waitlist form. We use it to troubleshoot and stop abuse. Logs are deleted automatically after at most 30 days.
Where data is stored and who sees it
| What | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Job records, usage data, waitlist | Our server, DigitalOcean, Frankfurt (EU) | Usage data until the beta ends plus up to 12 months. Waitlist until you ask us to delete it, or until launch. |
| Photo and generated clip | fal.ai (USA) | Under fal's retention policy |
| Server logs | Our server (EU) | Up to 30 days |
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. We don't use your photos to train AI models. Only Jay has access to our server.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, and object to how we use it. Email hello@zagly.com. Because the app has no accounts, we may ask you to send us a sticker you made, so we can find the matching records.
You can also complain to the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (cpdp.bg) or to the data protection authority where you live.
Age
Zagly is for people aged 16 and over. Only use photos of other people, including children, if you have their permission, or a parent's.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell beta testers in the app or by email.
